HOMEWORK
Our main activity for this school year in second grade is AR books (Accelerated Reader). Each child is to take a book and read it to improve our students' reading and comprehension skills.
Nuestro compromiso y prioridad este año como integrantes de la familia Garcia, es trabajar con las familias en los libros de AR (lector acelerado). Es libros ayudaran a nuestros estudiantes a mejorar su comprension y fluidez de lectura.

Barbara Clemente - Grade Level Chair
Welcome! My name is Barbara Clemente and I am a 2nd grade Teacher. I have been teaching for 20 years…two at Marcario Garcia. I am also working on my Master’s degree. I am thrilled to learn even more exciting ways to teach children this year. I personally have 2 children - a daughter who is 16 and a Junior at Reagan High School, and a 22 year old son who is a musician and also in the business world. I am a proud grandmother of a 4 year old granddaughter, who by the way is already reading words like cat, pig, red, etc. If you want to know more about how to teach your child to read, I am here for you and it is my sincere pleasure and honor to be your child’s teacher this year at our incredible school!
Melissa Corrigeux
Welcome! My name is Melissa Corrigeux and I am a 2nd grade Bilingual teacher here at this wonderful school. I have been teaching for 21 years…11 years at Macario Garcia. I got my teaching degree at PanAmericanUniversity in Edinburg, Texas. I’m a “Valley” girl!!! Aside from dedicating a lot of time to my fantastic students, I also have 5 super marvelous children at home. I am a firm believer that Reading is the “key” to success, so therefore I ask all parents to please listen to your child read daily. You can count on me to work with you and your child!
Jennifer Hoover
Hello, my name is Mrs. Jennifer Hoover and I am a second grade teacher here at Garcia Elementary. I have been teaching here for the last 14 years, and have taught, 2nd, 3rd, and Music.
I earned my teaching degree at the State University of New York College at Oneonta and my masters at Cortland State, also in New York. In addition to spending time with my wonderful class at school, I have a young boy at home who is one year old. I completely believe that reading is the key to success in life, so please listen to your child read for at least twenty minutes every night.
